Book of Shadows Consecration Ritual

Your Book of Shadows should be cleansed of any negativity before you use it, as should all magickal tools. I've provided a ritual below for consecrating your Book of Shadows - feel free to change the wording. As with all rituals, you can substitute some materials - like a feather instead of incense, which you would touch your book with instead of passing it through incense smoke.

Method

Cast magick circle.

Light lavender incense and Fire candle.

Pass your BOS over the flame of your candle (carefully!) and visualise the book glowing red while saying:

In the name of Fire,

May all negativity flee from thee.

Sprinkle the book with consecrated water and visualise it glowing blue while saying:

In the name of Water,

May all negativity flee from thee.

 Pass the BOS through the smoke of the incense and visualise it glowing yellow while saying:

In the name of Air,

May all negativity flee from thee.

Sprinkle the book with salt and visualise it glowing green while saying:

In the name of Earth,

May all negativity flee from thee.

Place the book on your pentacle. Trace a pentacle on the front cover with your wand/finger. Imagine the book glowing white and say:

In the name of the Lord and Lady,

May all negativity flee from thee.

 Hold your BOS in your hands and say this purification charm:

Earth and Water, Air and Fire,

Help me, work for my desire.

The Lady, who in all things dwells,

Please lend your aid unto my spells.

To the Horned God, here this night,

Help me work this magick rite.

Cleanse this book of mine times three,

As I will, so mote it be.

By all the might of Moon and Sun,

Seal this spell and see it done.

Anoint the book with lavender oil (to help keep it purified).

Snuff candles and release the circle.
