Esbats are generally celebrated at night on the Full Moons â€“ 12 (or 13) a year. They are a time to honour and celebrate the Goddess and
Her energy and also an excellent time to work magick. Many Witches
Draw Down the Moon in esbat rituals to fill themselves with the Goddessâ€™ energy.
The names and working suggestions below are generally considered quaint and not particularly relevant (by many Witches), but I personally like to use the 'name' of a full Moon when I'm writing an esbat ritual and so I've put them up here. The suggested workings are not iron-clad - a full Moon is an excellent time for any type of magick. Remember the Wiccan Rede - "When the Moon rides at her peak, then your heart's desire seek".
January - Thunder Moon
Also Blessing/Light/Mead Moon.
The middle of the wet season in the Northern Territory â€“ brings many thunderstorms.
Time to gather magickal herbs.
February - Red Moon
Also Wort/Wyrt/Barley/Corn Moon.
Red flames of bushfires - the Ash Wednesday and Black Tuesday fires occurred in February.
Time to collect magickal herbs.
March - Harvest Moon
Also Barley/Hunterâ€™s Moon.
Month of Mabon â€“ extra moonlit hours to bring in harvest.
April - Falling Leaf Moon
Also Blood/Hunterâ€™s Moon.
The middle month of Autumn.

May - Tree Moon
Also Beaver/Mourning/Snow Moon.
Bare trees are all thatâ€™s left after all leaves have fallen.
June - Long Night Moon
Also Cold/Oak Moon.
This is the month with longest nights.

Plant a magickal garden and empower seeds to be planted.
November - Flower Moon
Also Hare/Planting Moon.
The roses are in full bloom at Flemington Racecourse.
Plant empowered seeds.
December - Strawberry Moon
Also Loverâ€™s/Rose/Honey Moon.
The height of strawberry season.
Nurture the garden.
Also Goal/Wine Moon.
